Video Nasty

Most crews have some sort of preparation strategy before a big race, whether it be special diets, meditation, music or certain rituals.
CBRC's men's squad adopted a similar approach to Sunday's victorious Oxford crew by watching an inspirational film before the HORR. Unfortunaltely their choice of 'True Blue' seemed to have less of of an impact than Oxford's 'Any Given Sunday'. This is probably because True Blue's quotes ("To be second is to be last", "You are becoming a great rough water crew", "Wooden oars, I love them") aren't quite as motivational as Al Pacino's pre-match speech:

“You’ve got to look at the guy next to you, look into his eyes. Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. You’re gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team, because he knows when it comes down to it, you’re gonna do the same for him. That’s a team gentlemen, and either we heal as a team, or we will die as individuals.”

Better reserve this at Blockbusters before Evesham chaps....

Not forgetting the classic 'the thing about rowing machines is that they don't float' which after a certain incident 2 weeks before the head was almost the case with the men's 2nd eight.

What? Did you try to make an erg float? That's a schoolboy error.

It would have worked if it wasn't for those pesky laws of physics.
