Row, row, row your boat UPDATED

There are still lots of Job still to fill - IF YOUR ARE RACING IN THE 1ST DIVISION THEN YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO HELP THE 2ND DIVISION, AND VISE-VERSA. It is only fair that people making your division run get to row in the other division, and without sufficient help this will not be possible.

Quickly down the docks.... Without a swan/ferry/canoe in sight!

The draw is ready, and up on the website.

And now to the serious bit -

This event draws in quite a bit of money into the club (to help fund the equipment you use - and break!), and the smooth running requires the help of club members to allow it to run year on year. If you are rowing in one division, you would be expected to help the running of the other, so please, if you have not done so already send in your offers to volunteer to Nick Baker.

Jobs include -

Start and Finish Timers
Boating marshals (getting boats on and off the water).
Bridge Marshals
Start marshals
Car park
Food stall and Food preparation (before the day: baking cakes, making sandwiches, etc.)
Swan feeding.
Race control/registration.Setting up/Clearing up.

is the 'food preparation' related to the 'swan feeding'? in which case, what sort of cakes do swans like?

You are the wildlife person - YOU should be telling us what cake swans like!!!

Crush appears to have challenged some people to a cake making contest. We could do with a couple more people on the catering team if anyone else would like to respond to his battle cry? Please e-mail Jane to let her know how many cakes or sarnies you can make.

Thanks

PS, the challenge is quality rather than quantity! First cake or plate of sarnies to be finshed off wins something. Probably a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

If you make really rich cakes people will fill up quick and want less! Could always add extra bicarbonate of soda to the swan food - exploding swans could put a few people off eating.

Nice... Who are you? A Coxswain? I know they're a menace but still!

The rowing club doesn't condone the exploding of any form of bird life on the docks. Were they to approve, they'd suggest uncooked rice. Works a treat on pigeons.

Anyway, swans tend to prefer a nice victoria sponge or lemon drizzle cake.

So what bright spark has put the vet quad after the women's novice 8 in the draw???

6 1 City of Bristol WNV 8+ 1015
7 1 City of Bristol VetC 4x- 1015

I'll also predict some chaos caused by asking the last - therefore the slowest - crews to boat last.

Yeah - u should be able to marshall in reverse order down the feeder

Always nice to see the UWE 8+ twat a swan with all 4 bow side blades on Welsh back - then cut the corner at the Matthew......Quality! Swans clearly eat Fairy Cakes....

Nice to see UWE at all - they haven't always bothered with our head. Have they paid?

UWE only bothered with our head because Reading Uni head was cancelled, but yes, they paid in full.
